The Roaring Twenties

Mom was born into a very different world 90 years ago in 1925. The Roaring Twenties were still going strong. It was the era of flappers and speakeasies. Sliced bread hadn't even been invented. Most people still used actual ice boxes. Horsepower often meant horse power.  Plastics were in their infancy. Electronics were primitive - analog. Digital meant using your fingers. Phones were big, cord challenged, totally unsecured, and you had to actually dial a number. Radio was in its infancy and there was no TV. Movies were in black and white and silent and might cost a quarter. There were no transistors, chips were something you ate. This was way before the Space Age, no jets, they were still flying biplanes. Dick Tracy was very futuristic and a lot of Jules Verne was still science fantasy. The era of the Model T was just coming to an end. Many kids were still born at home, graduating high school was a real big thing cause few went off to college, and a lot of people would have been happy to make $1,000 a year.
