Docent Pix

Trish continues to enjoy being a Tallgrass Prairie Docent.

<<The bison are a big feature of the preserve.  They were featured in last year's Christmas "Wildlife Pix."

One of the perks of being a docent is getting to march and/or ride in local parades.

Indocent Exposure rides again!

We played for the fall docent meeting again up at the Tallgrass Prairie headquarters.  They had a chuck wagon set up outside and the wranglers were rustling up mean pots of chili and other goodies.

<<They had quite a set up of old time pots and stoves etc.

John Joseph Mathews (November 16, 1894 – June 16, 1979) became one of the Osage Nation's most important spokespeople and writers, and served on the Osage Tribal Council during the 1930s.  Known as the Thoreau of the Prairie,  he wrote a number of books (both fiction and non-fiction) about Osage life, culture, history, and living in the Osage.

<<Mathews' cabin had gone to ruin but has been recently restored.

<<Working with a local group, the Questers, Trish helped refurnish the cabin by donating the deer, quail, and turkey mounts.

Trish is Mathews' first cousin thrice removed.  Also shown are the works of Mathews.>>
