A Few Bucolic Snippets From the Year Passed

<<I'm always a sucker for the downy flakes of new falling snow!

Nothing like a heavy fog to give a landscape an aura of mystery.>>

<<Ah............With the coming of spring, the all too familiar ominous look of smoke upon the horizon.

Trish took this shot. The light must have been just right to make it look a pastel impressionist painting.>>

In the spring we went on a guided tour of the old CCC camp in Osage Hills State Park. The park was built by the CCC, but only remnants of the camp remain.
Our tour guide was cordial and extremely knowledgeable about the contruction of the camp and the park. It was a very pleasant outing.

<<Trish standing with our tour guide.

Our guide expounding on the construction of the camp's ampitheater.>>

<<Our possumhaw is always loaded with bright red berries. But none of the local wildlife seems to enjoy them. It's only when an occasional band of marauding Cedar Waxwings passes through that the berries meet their destiny.

You looking at me?>>

<<Cheers to St. Paddy!>>

Trying to get an early start on gardening season. (Though it never really stops.)

<<Another batch of my famous award winning pickles ;-)

You just never know what you'll find lurking in the shadows around here.>>

<<Though they don't get nearly the attention our daffodils receive, we really have quite a lot of beautiful iris scattered hither and dither about our place.

We wound up with a fuchia this year. It brought back distant memories of childhood past. Some of my very earliest memories are of the fuchias growing around the yard when I was a very wee tot. They're so cool, what a blast from the past!>>

Oh where oh where has our island gone,
Oh where oh where can it be?

Red Bud island>>

<<Last seen in this location early this summer past.

Maybe my ugly Christmas sweater scared it off?>>
